Bitcoin closed October at $77,582.02 on Binance’s BTCUSDT monthly candle, which settled at 00:00 UTC on Nov. 1. That is down 7.22% from the month’s $83,623.59 open. It is the second October decline in a row, after October 2025’s 3.89% decline, and it is the lowest monthly close since July. It also ends a three-month winning run in a month that traders often call “Uptober.”
The figures below come from Binance’s public monthly kline data for BTCUSDT, pulled after the candle closed. Other venues settle at slightly different prices. For example, Coinbase’s BTC-USD daily candle for Oct. 31 closed at $77,423.98, so the exact numbers depend on which venue is quoted.
How October traded
October’s range on Binance ran from a high of $87,220.00 to a low of $76,325.98. According to Trader Villa’s October 2026 BTCUSDT monthly summary, which uses the same Binance prices, the high came on Oct. 2 and the low on Oct. 30. The month’s best session was Oct. 4 at +2.10%. The worst was Oct. 29 at -4.12%, the day the Binance hack rattled the market.
The month moved in steps rather than in one slide. Bitcoin held above $80,000 for most of October and then lost 3.18% on Oct. 22. It drifted between roughly $80,000 and $81,400 until the hack-day drop pushed it below $78,000. Binance has since said most of the stolen assets are covered, as AltcoinReporter detailed in its report on Binance’s SAFU fund moving 7,499 bitcoin.
Spot ETF flows were also negative. Farside Investors’ US spot bitcoin ETF flow data shows $643.2 million of net outflows on Friday, Oct. 30, the largest single-day outflow of the month. Adding up Farside’s daily rows for all 22 October trading days, AltcoinReporter calculates a net outflow of about $515.9 million for the month. Flows were mixed rather than one-way: Oct. 19 and Oct. 21 each brought more than $520 million of inflows.
The last 13 monthly closes
Here are Binance BTCUSDT monthly closes, each with the change from that month’s open:
Oct 2026: $77,582.02 (-7.22%)
Sep 2026: $83,623.60 (+6.42%)
Aug 2026: $78,581.29 (+24.95%)
Jul 2026: $62,887.88 (+7.27%)
Jun 2026: $58,624.71 (-20.43%)
May 2026: $73,674.39 (-3.50%)
Apr 2026: $76,346.57 (+11.81%)
Mar 2026: $68,284.48 (+1.96%)
Feb 2026: $66,973.26 (-14.94%)
Jan 2026: $78,741.09 (-10.16%)
Dec 2025: $87,648.22 (-3.00%)
Nov 2025: $90,360.00 (-17.56%)
Oct 2025: $109,608.01 (-3.89%)
Three points stand out. October’s close is below August’s $78,581.29, which makes it the lowest month-end since July’s $62,887.88. The July-to-September rally remains largely in place: October’s close is still 23.4% above the July close. And bitcoin now sits 29.2% below its October 2025 close of $109,608.01.
This was not a second losing month in a row. September closed up 6.42%, so October is the first red monthly candle since June.
October’s record on Binance
October has been one of bitcoin’s stronger months on Binance’s own data, which begins in 2017. Here is each October’s change from open to close:
2017: +47.61%
2018: -3.84%
2019: +10.26%
2020: +27.97%
2021: +39.89%
2022: +5.50%
2023: +28.47%
2024: +11.00%
2025: -3.89%
2026: -7.22%
Seven of the 10 Octobers on that record closed higher. This year’s 7.22% drop is the weakest October in the Binance series, and it is the first time October has fallen two years running in that data. Ten data points are a thin basis for seasonal rules. The past two years show that the “Uptober” label describes past results and is not a reliable guide to the next October.

What to watch next
The first marker is the October low of $76,325.98. A November that trades below it would mean the month has taken out the low that formed during the hack-driven selloff. The second is the August close of $78,581.29. October finished about $1,000 below it, and getting back above it would undo the “lowest close since July” status.
ETF flows are the other thing to track. Farside’s daily table showed large swings in both directions in October. Whether the Oct. 30 outflow was a one-off or the start of a sustained trend should become clearer in the first full week of November.
Follow-up on the Binance incident also matters. Further recovery updates, or signs that stolen funds are being sold, could affect sentiment. None of these factors points reliably in one direction, and monthly closes have swung by double digits in both directions this year. Readers should treat any November outlook with caution.
